Cake, catch-ups and a good cause: Cleverchefs HQ supports Macmillan Coffee Morning
Last Friday, the team at Cleverchefs Catering Headquarters briefly swapped inboxes for coffee and cake as we joined thousands of workplaces, schools and communities across the UK for Macmillan Coffee Morning.
Thanks to the generosity of Creed Foodservice, who donated the bakes, the table was well stocked: doughnuts, blueberry muffins, chocolate mint cake, and a selection of croissants and pastries. It didn't last long.
A cause worth getting behind
Macmillan Coffee Morning is Macmillan Cancer Support's biggest fundraising event. It began in 1990 with a simple idea: gather over coffee and donate the cost of your cup to Macmillan. More than three decades later, it has raised over £310 million, funding nurses, helplines, financial guidance and emotional support for the millions of people in the UK living with cancer.
Between us, we raised around £60. It's a modest sum, but it joins thousands of others raised on the same day across the country, and that's where the impact lies.
Why it matters to us
Our work is built on people, and busy weeks don't always leave room to simply stop and talk.
Mornings like this give colleagues from different teams the chance to catch up, meet faces they usually only see on email, and share something that has nothing to do with deadlines. Those conversations build the trust and familiarity that make everyday work run more smoothly.
It also reflects something we care about as a business: food brings people together, and when it does so in support of a cause that touches so many families, it's time well spent.
